I work with alot of different types of wool, the projects I make uses the 4 ply worsted weight yarn and I find after the wool has been put threw plastic canvas holes so many times, it begins to fuzz up at the end.
Not that great looking when your project is done.
So what I've learned to do is light a tea candle and run the smaller pieces over the flame (slightly higher then the flame) otherwise your piece will burn so do this fairly quickly.
For larger pieces, I simply use a heat gun...this does not burn the wool.

Your projects will look clean & crisp, some wools will even get a shinny look to it.
